老人的愿望很快既要实现了。在第八十五天，一早，老人开着自己的渔船去打鱼。放下钓丝，一条鱼上钩了!老人想把鱼拉上船来，可这条鱼劲儿太大，老人没把鱼拉上来，反而被大鱼拖着走。你看看多么新鲜!一条鱼能把船拖起走?如果我没看后面还真不相信。
老人一直被鱼拖着走。不一会儿，老人的右手被绳子划破了，左手抽筋了，动都动不了!我想老人现在一定在想：“阿，左手，你为什么偏偏在这个时候抽筋呀，快快好起来吧!”这时，老人饿了，但只有以前钓的一条金枪鱼。所以，为了吃饱肚子，补充能量，老人只好吃生鱼肉。读到这里，我感到了老人坚持的精神。如果是我的话，我早就放弃了，可老人没放弃，他选择了坚持!这时老人一定想：“我这么长时间，从来没有钓到这么的大鱼，这次遇到这么大的鱼，一定要钓上钩。”
